For quite a while I thought it would be an interesting exercise to document the first thing I heard every day when I woke up and the last thing I heard before I went to sleep (aside from greetings). I was hoping to uncover some interesting surprises and patterns about my life and observe the types of people and encounters that made up my day. I began tweeting these experiences on the account @firstheardlast.
Although it was a lot of fun logging these moments, the project became fairly challenging to keep up with for a number of reasons. Mainly, I never really knew exactly what words were going to be the last thing I heard, so I ended up writing down almost everything anyone said to me from the time I left work to to the time I went to sleep. Perhaps this exercise will come alive in a future project someday, but for now, I have put it to rest.
